Area Information

Hermiston is rich in agriculture and is the region's watermelon capitol. Agriculture was Hermiston's lone industry until the Umatilla Army Depot was constructed immediately prior to World War II. Hermiston has transformed from modest beginnings into a modern, progressive city enjoying a wealth of assets in people, land, climate and potential for further expansion.
Savor 300 days of sunshine each year while fishing for Salmon, Steel head, Sturgeon, or Walleye in the Columbia River. Enjoy biking in the Wildlife Nature Area, viewing the hydroelectric powerhouse at McNary Dam, and picnicing at nearby Hat Rock State Park. The Hat Rock Trail is a 10-mile historic trail that traces a section of Lewis and Clark's journey across Oregon and can be accessed from Hat Rock State Park.
Hermiston is in the NW corner of Umatilla County in NE Oregon. The City of Hermiston is centrally located between the major cities of the Pacific Northwest:

Hermiston is easily accessed by Interstate 84 (I-84), running East to West, and Interstate 82 (I-82). Hermiston is 450 feet above sea level and services an area population of nearly 30,000.
